Things Aren’t Always Dandy
I try to make this blog show the ups and downs of affiliate marketing.
Well, the past 2 weeks, my affiliate biz has seen quite a slowdown — things aren’t always dandy!
Usually I triple my money if not more, but the past 2 weeks I’ve been just breaking even and some days lost money. But it’s just the nature of the beast…ups and downs is natural.
The summer is a slow period — my pay per click volume is staying the same — but there are less buyers I guess.
Plus, I’ve been checking out my competition and I’ve seen some new landing pages pop up for some of my bigger sellers — and some are really really good.
One guy in particular has used YouTube videos all throughout his affiliate site and it’s pretty powerful.
So what do I do?
Well, things will pick up. As long as I continue to break even while I try to get the momentum going again, I’ll be OK.
- I’ll tweak my landing pages
- I’ll double check all my PPC bids and ad positioning
- I’ll test out new products
I’ll also get rid of any campaign that is just not working out and is polluting my overall CTR.
If you’re in the same boat, the idea is not to completely freak out. Keep your costs in check while you tweak and test to get things back to normal.
Think outside the box too. For example, I offer bonuses on my landing pages, but maybe they’re not good enough…maybe I should get more creative.
Alright, well I’m going to go tend to my injured campaigns and get them healthy again!
Cheers,
Ryan
