How I made $200 in 2 Minutes

In my previous post, Beating the Holiday Sales Blues, I mentioned how my sales were way down the 2 weeks leading up to Christmas — but that I hoped/anticipated they would return to normal afterwards.

Well, they have — and since the majority of my affiliate promotions are health and fitness related, I’m experiencing daily sales figures like never before.

Starting December 26th, sales have exploded and I assume it’s because people are starting to make their New Year’s resolution to lose weight or get in shape.

Now here’s how I made $200 in affiliate commissions in 2 minutes by making small changes to a presell landing page.

I promote one fitness related program that pays me $100 per sale — I was making sales here and there and then sales dried up the past month.

So yesterday I opened up the presell landing page I drive targeted traffic to using Google Adwords and tweaked the copy a bit — the changes took me literally 2 minutes and I made 2 sales about 3 hours later for commissions totaling $200.

Previously the closing paragraph on my landing page mentioned that the product is expensive, but worth every penny (which it is) — but then I was thinking about it — the purpose of a presell landing page is to put the person in a buying frame of mind before clicking through to the merchant’s website.

Me telling them that the product is expensive — while being honest — is not doing this at all — they’re clicking through to the merchant’s webite thinking the product is going to cost them an arm and a leg — not exactly a buying trance if you ask me!

So I adjusted this paragraph to be more enticing, eliminated the reference to the expensive price tag and made $200 shortly thereafter.

This brings up an important lesson.

Never never never throw up a pesell landing page, drive pay per click traffic to it and then give up when it makes you no sales. It will often take more than one attempt to become successful.

If you’ve done your research and know it’s a product that converts for other affiliates — and if you know you’re bidding on the right keywords — then it’s most likely your landing page that is breaking the deal.

I almost gave up on one of my best-selling products — it took me 3 rounds of tweaking the landing page copy until it started converting for me — and now it sells very well.

I mentioned this free eBook previously, but it’s important so here’s the link again: http://mycps.sitesell.com

It will teach you everything you need to know about preselling.

Talk to you soon,
Ryan
